Occurrence of Azospirillum brasilense in soils amended with swine manure

چکیده
Restriction analysis of amplified 16S rDNA from bacterial strains isolated from soil was used to evaluate the effects of swine manure and urea fertilisation on indigenous populations of the plant growth promoting bacterium, Azospirillum brasilense, in corncultivated experimental plots. Several operational taxonomic units (OTUs) were found among the isolates. One of them, identified as A. brasilense, was found only in the control and in the organically amended plots, while treatment with urea reduced the presence of this species to under the detection threshold. Neither the organic nor the chemical treatment reduced the general biodiversity of the sampled soils, which was defined by the number of different OTUs within each plot. The spreading of pig slurry seems to be a good management practice in corn-cultivated agrosystems, as it does not affect the presence of A. brasilense.

Combined effects of clay immobilized Azospirillum brasilense and Pantoea dispersa and organic olive residue on plant performance and soil properties in the revegetation of a semiarid area.
The reestablishment of autochthonous shrubs species is an essential strategy for recovering degraded soils under semiarid Mediterranean areas. A field experiment was carried out to assess the effectiveness of an immobilized microbial inoculant (Azospirillum brasilense and Pantoea dispersa) and the addition of organic olive residue (alperujo), for plant growth promotion of Cistus albidus L. and ...
متن کاملSorption of Phosphorus from Swine, Dairy, and Poultry Manures
In most phosphorus (P) sorption studies, P is added as an inorganic salt to a predefined background solution such as calcium chloride (CaCl2) or potassium chloride (KCl); however, in many regions, the application of P to agricultural fields is in the form of animal manure. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to compare the sorption behavior of dissolved reactive P (DRP) in monopotassium p...

The survival of Azospirillum brasilense Cd and Sp-245 in the rhizosphere of wheat and tomato plants and in 23 types of plant-free sterilized soils obtained from a wide range of environments in Israel and Mexico was evaluated. Large numbers of A. brasilense cells were detected in all the rhizospheres tested, regardless of soil type, bacterial strain, the origin of the soil, or the amount of rain...

ABSTRACT Soil fertility amendments, including composted cotton-gin trash, swine manure, a rye-vetch green manure, or synthetic fertilizers, were applied to subplots and tillage on bare soil; or tillage followed by surface mulch with wheat straw were applied to main plots to determine the effect on the incidence of southern blight caused by Sclerotium rolfsii, yield of processing tomato, and soi...
متن کاملPotential N mineralization and availability to irrigated maize in a calcareous soil amended with organic manures and urea under field conditions
Quantification of the Nitrogen (N)-supplying capacity of organic manures provides an important insight into more effective N management practices. The aims of this study were to determine the potential N mineralization of cow manure (CM), poultry manure (PM), urea fertilizer (UF) and the combined use of cow manure + urea fertilizer (CM + UF) for silage maize (Zea mays L.) in a calcareous so...
